2023 Hardrock 100 Race Highlights

Finn Melanson and Scott Hicklenlooper ventured to Silverton, CO to spectate and capture some of the magic and highlights from the 2023 Hardrock 100.

The Hardrock 100 is a renowned ultramarathon trail running race that takes place annually in Colorado, USA. The race covers a challenging 100-mile (161 kilometers) loop through the San Juan Mountains, which are known for their rugged and high-altitude terrain.

The race starts and finishes in Silverton, Colorado, and it typically passes through several high mountain passes, including Handies Peak, Virginius Pass, and Kroger's Canteen, with an elevation gain of over 33,000 feet (10,000 meters). The course is designed to be extremely demanding, making it one of the most difficult ultramarathons in the world.

Participation in the Hardrock 100 is limited, and runners must qualify through other ultramarathon events to gain entry. The event has gained a reputation for its challenging course, stunning scenery, and a sense of camaraderie among participants and volunteers.
